With offices located in Amsterdam, our 10-strong team, all of whom hold Doctorates, Masters or Degrees in Data Science, is led by David Langerveld our Director of Data Science, and overseen by our Chief Information and Technology Officer, Breanndán Ó Nualláin. The team works on the algorithms that power our products. All our products are built to purpose and perform better than ‘off the shelf’ solutions. In an industry where 1% is a lot of capital, that is crucial.
Founded in 2018, we are now part of the Open GI Group. Whilst remaining independent and offering solutions to all platforms, MLP benefits from vast stores of anonymised historical data.
Our offices are located within the Startup Village (pictured above) in the Amsterdam Science Park. The village is made from refurbished shipping containers, reconstructed and welded together with garden laid on the roofs for insulation and seating during the summer.
Meet our Executive Team
Damian joined as CEO in 2022 bringing with him 16 years of insurance experience and over 20 years of Sales Leadership positions.
Damian’s background has been working for Brokers, wholesalers and Insurance Software-houses and has been involved with launching and growing a number of successful insurtech businesses in the last 15 years.

Breanndán, our Certified DPO, is a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam where he teaches Machine Learning and Data Sciences. With 30 years of experience and over 1,000 citations in academic papers, he informs the team’s deep understanding of the area of machine learning.
For nearly 25 years, James has delivered ground breaking technology to the finance sector.
Turning his sights to AI for insurance in 2019, James joined MLP and headed up the product management function. Now as Commercial Director James’s ambition is to enable the general insurance market to benefit from data science.
David holds an MSc in Data Science. Before working at MLP, David has worked on predicting the spreading of influenza and predictive maintenance for aircraft components. In his spare time he teaches machine learning to undergraduate students, but can most likely be found in a swimming pool or exploring the Alps.
Meet our Team
Mike brings a wealth of experience to our team, having spent 15 years in the insurance tech sector. His roles as a Project Manager, Product Owner, and Product Development specialist have allowed him to refine his expertise in creating cutting-edge products within the industry. Mike’s ability to collaborate closely with clients to develop new and transformative initiatives sets him apart. With a deep-seated passion for propelling MLP to new heights, Mike is driven to influence the insurTech space with his innovative insights, particularly in the realm of AI.
Luke has been a member of the data science team at MLP since July 2019. He studied for a B.A. in Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a first-class honours degree. Luke has experience of working in the pharmaceutical and financial sectors, having completed internships in pharmaceutical statistics at Statsols and corporate finance at Deloitte.
Baran has started his journey with us as a MLOps Engineer around 2020, as an intern. He later became a full time member of our staff. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Amsterdam University College, with a focus on Informatics and Data Science. Tinkering with Linux systems as a hobby, he learned his way around those systems. Outside of his tech interests, he can be found playing the ukulele or listening to a podcast in various locations.
Berke holds a BSc in Informatics from Amsterdam University College. He has previously worked on cloud cost optimization as a data scientist and web developer. Joining MLP as an intern in 2021, Berke enjoys learning and applying his knowledge to the projects they work on. He likes to compose and write outside of work hours.
Jon earned a MSc. in Data Science from the University of Amsterdam, and holds BSc. and MSc. degrees in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from the US. Before MLP, he was an accomplished medical researcher; publishing over 25 journal articles and presenting his work at conferences worldwide. More recently, he has worked as a Data Science consultant and Business Intelligence Developer at multiple tech startups. In his free time, Jon enjoys long-distance cycling, rock climbing, and photography.
Cristina holds a PhD degree in Experimental Particle Physics from the Vrije Universiteit, as well as a MSc and BSc in Physics from the universities of València and Groningen. Her PhD research focused on the analysis of data from proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN, with the aim of studying of the proton structure. Cristina is excited to work on new data science challenges at MLP. When not at work, you will find her baking or taking long beach walks.
Fabrizio holds a PhD in Cosmology from La Sapienza, University of Rome where he performed research on theories of gravity and developed pipelines for cosmological data analysis. As a postdoctoral researcher, he continued his quest to understand the mysteries of our Universe, resulting in a total of 20 publications in leading scientific journals. Fabrizio is eager to bring his expertise in research and advanced mathematics to the MLP data science team to create and contribute to its growth. He is a highly motivated team player who thrives in challenging and rewarding work environments that recognize his drive for continuous improvement and provide opportunities for growth and ownership. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, and playing sports.
Vsevolod holds an MSc in Robotics and AI from ITMO University, St. Petersburg, as well as a BSc in Systems Analysis and Management from SPBSTU, St. Petersburg. Previously worked on computer vision projects for autonomous robots and industrial manipulators and other robot sensing systems. In his free time he likes to go to music festivals and spend time outdoors with friends.
Chris completed a PhD in Mathematics and an MSci in Physics and Philosophy at the University of Bristol, spending two years as a visiting student at the University of Potsdam during their PhD. Their doctoral research examined the robustness of complex networks, applying this to areas such as species extinctions in ecosystems. Chris is keen to be working with others on engaging technical projects at MLP, and outside of work they enjoy cooking, film photography and all aspects of theatre making.
